Chief Executive Officer, NG Bailey
Martin joined NG Bailey 25 years ago shortly after graduating Durham University with a BSc (Hons) 2:1 in Engineering Science. Martin’s career with NG Bailey began as a student apprentice before he took the position of Project Engineer and following a series of promotions he became Divisional Director for Reading and subsequently the Leeds branch. Later, Martin became Director for Engineering and IT, before being appointed Managing Director of Bailey Building services in 2002, a member of the NG Bailey board in 2004, and in 2006 Martin was appointed Chief Innovation Officer.
In his role as Chief Innovation Officer Martin is responsible for developing innovative processes, technologies and solutions, which are critical to the company’s medium and long-term strategic ambitions. Martin is a firm believer in making new things happen which add value to the NG Bailey multi-organisation, identifying and championing the best in creativity and corporate performance, at whatever level, to help the business achieve its objectives. Martin also takes responsibility for Supply Chain, Technical and Safety, Health, Environment and Quality.
In addition, since 2000 Martin has been Director of the Institute of Family Business, the UK’s only independent network for family business. A 100 strong network with a combined turnover of approximately £10 billion that employs over 160, 000 people. Martin is also Director and Senior Vice President of the Electrical Contractors Association, the UK’s largest leading trade association representing 2800 electrical, electronic, installation engineering and building services companies. He is a council member for Heating and Ventilating Contractors' Association and CBI Regional Forum.
Furthermore, since Martin left Durham University, he has since become a Chartered Engineer, achieved an MBA from Bradford University and become a Fellow of the Institution of Engineering and Technology. Most recently, in 2007 Martin undertook the Advanced Management Programme at Harvard Business School.
