Margaret Jackson is Deputy Regional Director for Economy and Strategy in the Government Office for Yorkshire and the Humber (GOYH). Her responsibilities cover the regional economic agenda, business relations, enterprise, regional and local transport; the Regional Spatial Strategy, sponsorship of Yorkshire Forward and the Yorkshire and Humber Assembly; culture, media and sport, and knowledge management. Margaret has lead responsibility for GOYH’s relationship with Bradford and Calderdale.

Before taking on responsibility for the new Economy and Strategy Directorate in April 2006, Margaret was Directorate of Competitiveness and Sustainability with GOYH. Previous roles have included regeneration activity, including neighbourhood renewal, local government and RDA sponsorship, as well as the promotion of sustainable development.

Margaret moved to Yorkshire in 1992, to work on European programmes after 10 years of working in Whitehall for the Department of Energy and the Department of the Environment. She lives in Baildon, Bradford with her husband.
