Reza Zadeh is the Director of Yorkshire Science and his main area of expertise is in regional and economic development through innovation systems, policies and initiatives. For the past 12 years he has been involved in formulation of regional competitiveness and Innovation strategies. These include the implementation of the Regional Technology Plan at Welsh Development Agency and the first Regional Innovation Strategy in Yorkshire and Humber.
He combines this role with that of Yorkshire Forward’s Director of European Innovation. Until his appointment in 2006, as the Head of Competitiveness he held the portfolio for regional policies on science and innovation as well as sector & cluster development at Yorkshire Forward.
Prior to joining the public sector he held a number of international management roles across a number of industries including telecommunications, aerospace and management consultancy working in a number of countries including People’s Republic of China, Singapore, United States, France, Belgium and (East) Germany as well as extensively in the United Kingdom.
He is a member of Steering Board of the Innovating Regions in Europe (IRE) and advises the European Commission on regional innovation and cluster policies.
He is a technologist with a B.Sc. in Systems Engineering and research experience in Digital Control Methodologies which led to award of a Master of Philosophy (M.Phil.). He is a Chartered Engineer and holds a joint MBA degree from Cranfield School of Management, UK and Nanyang Technological University, Singapore
