Innovation and creativity are two of the major driving forces behind some of Europe’s most successful businesses. In February, Yorkshire Science and the CBI presented ‘Design, Create, Innovate’, featuring keynote speakers from some of Europe’s most respected brands. Yorkshire Science Council member, Professor Mike Roberts of the Central Science Laboratory (CSL) delivered a keynote speech at the 2007 Yorkshire Universities Conference, De Vere Oulton Hall Hotel, Leeds. Professor Roberts outlined the opportunities for businesses to partner up with other European nations for Framework Programme 7 (FP7) projects.

The Yorkshire Forward 'Business of Innovation' Open Day took place on Monday 29 January 2007. Chair of Yorkshire Science, Richard Gregory, was one of the Science Council members taking part in a debate entitled "Inspiring the Next Generation of Regional Innovators".
