Invention to Innovation Conference

Innovation is critical to business success. As part of the BA Festival of Science, Yorkshire Science and Yorkshire Forward hosted a unique event attended by 100 key decision-makers from the region's most successful innovation-intensive companies. CBI Conference, 'Design, Create, Innovate'

Innovation and creativity are two of the major driving forces behind some of Europe’s most successful businesses. In February, Yorkshire Science and the CBI presented ‘Design, Create, Innovate’, featuring keynote speakers from some of Europe’s most respected brands. Tim Bradshaw of the CBI and Sebastian Conran of The Conran Group illustrated that innovation made the critical difference between a good company and a great one.

Antti Joensuu

Deputy Director General for Ministry of Trade and Industry of Finland, Antti Joensuu outlined the Finnish model of innovation illustrating how a company with a population of only 5.2 million, is ranked 3rd globally in the Business Competitiveness Index (BCI).

Yorkshire Science at the 2007 Yorkshire Universities Conference

Yorkshire Science Council member, Professor Mike Roberts of the Central Science Laboratory (CSL) delivered a keynote speech at the 2007 Yorkshire Universities Conference, De Vere Oulton Hall Hotel, Leeds. Professor Roberts outlined the opportunities for businesses to partner up with other European nations for Framework Programme 7 (FP7) projects.

Business of Innovation Open Day

The Yorkshire Forward 'Business of Innovation' Open Day took place on Monday 29 January 2007. Chair of Yorkshire Science, Richard Gregory, was one of the Science Council members taking part in a debate entitled "Inspiring the Next Generation of Regional Innovators".
